RACE FOR THE RESCUES

It’s time to RACE! DONATE! (SIT ON THE COUCH!)
No matter how you decide to support us, please join us to help Santé D’Or raise $50,000 at Race for the Rescues by Saturday, October 12!

GET INVOLVED

  • Donate! You can cheer on the Santé D’Or team with your generous financial donation. Your support is needed to get our team to the finish line! Last year we raised over $40,000. So this year, we are stretching to an ambitious $50,000. These funds go to all the costs of caring for our animals: vet bills, food, supplies, vaccinations, and all-important spaying and neutering. Help us meet our goal with a donation of any size.
  • Race!  Be a fundraiser with us, before the event. Join our team now!
Sign up to participate as a fundraising member of the team, then join in the 5K run, 10K run, or the special “fun run” (less than one mile) for kids.
And if your dog wants to race with you, he or she can join you for the 5K or 10K runs, or you can participate in a 1K dog walk. Get all the details here.
  • Sit on the couch!  If you’re not a runner, no problem!
You can still join the team and help us raise money virtually, from the comfort of your very own couch! If you are one of our supporters outside the LA area, this is a great way to help, too! Sign up as a “couch potato” and let the fundraising begin!
  • Volunteer on Race Day! We’ll also need hands on at the Santé D’Or tent during the event. For more information about this helpful contribution, please contact info.santedor@gmail.com.

WHY WE RACE

The numbers. In 2018, we raised over $40,000 at Race for the Rescues, which went a long way to funding our everyday basics and operational expenses. Importantly, it also funded surgeries and emergency special care, like when we rescued Mae and five other senior cats all at once this spring.

We’re proud to say that 2019 is the seventh year Santé D’Or has participated in Race for the Rescues. It’s our second-largest fundraiser of the year, but did you know it’s also an opportunity for us to bring in and rehome animals from the Pasadena Humane Society and the LA City Animal Services?

The rescues. Since 2013 we’ve brought home 12 pets from Race for the Rescues, and found them all loving homes. Click here to see a photo album of our Race for the Rescues Alums!

We all fondly remember Bud, Sir Isaac Meowton, Raleigh, and Copper the Dog, just to name a few.

While all the animals are special and have a story of their own, one of SDO’s alums is particularly amazing.

We had been informed about the few details the shelter knew of little Joey’s rough time so far in his brief life, then were stunned to discover his story had been on the news!

Turns out, Joey was saved by a homeless woman who intervened when she saw him being maltreated in a park. She was able to get him to Glendale Humane, where he began to get treatment. And then he was brought to Race Day, to be seen by the broadest possible audience. When he was not chosen, we were happy to take him home with us, along with Tuxedo twins Woodward and Bernstein, and senior lady Mia.

Joey went to one of our special foster families for care and recovery time, and from there was quickly and happily adopted. Had we not been participating with the Race, his future as a special needs kitten at the city shelter would have been much more uncertain.

Thank you for helping us save these lives!

Please join us again this year, and help us to save even more!
